The expectation is that the sensor will be built in a partnership with Samsung. The manufacturers had already joined forces to make the 108 MP camera present in the Mi Note 10. In addition, the South Korean company used sensors with the same capacity in the newcomer Galaxy S20 Ultra. The assumption of the partnership was corroborated by the Samsung publication that announced an upcoming image sensor, successor to the 108 MP ISOCELL Bright HMX. However, the company plans to launch a camera with a resolution of 150 MP. The fact that it is the only company that is publicly working on a new sensor points out that the South Korean brand can continue the legacy and be present in the photographic set of future Xiaomi launches. Until the matter was closed, the companies did not comment on the rumors. The Chinese giant is a pioneer in presenting smartphones with powerful cameras. Xiaomi was one of the first companies to launch a phone with a 48 MP sensor with the arrival of the Redmi Note 7 Pro in 2019. Even already holding the post, it presented the market in the same year the Redmi Note 8 Pro, a cell phone with 64 MP. As for the technical specifications of the new sensor, it is likely to come with pixel matching technology for a larger size. The goal would be to help improve the camera’s sensitivity to low light, while also bringing more vibrant and bright colors. The 108 MP HMP image sensor, which is one of the largest currently available, is only 1/3 of an inch and a half diagonally. Therefore, it is estimated that the next 144 MP sensor is almost 1 inch in size, which is comparable to point & shoot cameras (point and shoot), in order to generate a 16 MP final file. Xiaomi and Samsung are expected to win competitors in the race to implement powerful cameras. A report by the Korean portal Clién states that Oppo and Vivo (not to be confused with the operator of the same name) also intend to present cell phones with the sensor, but smartphones tend to reach the market in the first quarter of 2021.
