When this is the case, the importance of social distance and hygiene becomes prominent once again. Taking into consideration this, one of the businesses that wanted to return to their old days came up with the idea of a robot barista, which offers barista service like normal people and will prevent the spread of the virus in this epidemic process. Life is slowly returning to normal in South Korea, where 11 thousand people are infected with coronavirus and 267 people are killed by viruses. In this new normal order, where the South Korean administration aims to ‘maintain distance in everyday life’, robots that the country has been working on and projects for years and received support in many areas started to serve in this time in cafes.
Robot baristas will be used in South Korea:
Lee Dong-bae, who developed the robot barista with a state-sponsored science institute, stated that every detail, from the distance between the tables to the ordering and receiving departments, was harmonized with the working conditions of the robots. Dong-bae also added that these robots can prepare 60 different coffees and serve customers’ tables. These robots, which can prepare 6 different orders in just 7 minutes, are aimed to be found in at least 30 other cafes across the country. Young people who find robots fun to be barista, on the one hand, are worried that part-time jobs are an additional source of income for students in the country.
