Smartphone manufacturers are trying to develop new features so their phones are preferred by more users. Huawei, one of the ambitious companies of smartphone competition, is trying to attract the attention of users by adding new technologies to their smartphones. Huawei, which has switched to a circular camera design in its latest flagship series, may want to make this camera system more functional. In a patent application that the company made to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) in 2019, a functional ring screen appears around the camera system. In the patent application, there are 15 drawings among the color images of the functional ring. It is seen in the images that the functional ring will work with rotating and touching movements. The functions of this ring include controlling incoming calls, displaying incoming messages, adjusting the zoom settings of the camera and clock features. The ring around the camera module of Huawei’s new flagship Mate 30 is similar in design to the ring in the patent application. But of course there was no screen around the Mate 30’s cameras. However, if Huawei wants to use such a functional ring, it can be expected to use a similar design. There is no information yet on whether this interesting functional ring screen design of Huawei will be used on any phone. The company is expected to announce the Mate 40 series in the second half of 2020. Maybe the Mate 40s may come with a similar feature.
