A hacker named Tony Spencer, who hacked his iCloud accounts to access private photos of people and posted them on the internet, was sentenced to 32 months in prison. The hacker, who will spend about 3 years behind bars, was found guilty of doing voyeurism in shopping malls and taking inappropriate pictures of his five children last September. According to court minutes, Spencer videotaped women and children through hidden cameras placed in various shopping malls. Detective Ian Collins of Essex Police’s Cybercrime Team said that Spencer has accessed people’s private photos and posted them on the Internet for many years without identifying them. On the other hand, no information was shared about the software used by the British hacker to hijack iCloud accounts. Collins also added that they are conducting a much more extensive cybercrime investigation beyond Spencer. Some academics and politicians in the country argue that the prison sentences imposed on criminals who have been tried under the Computer Misuse Act (CMA) are inconsistent. Turkish hacker Kerem Albayrak, who asked for ransom from Apple, was sentenced to 2 years in prison in the UK, claiming that he had access to more than 300 million iCloud accounts last December.
