The “Nightly” versions of Firefox are development versions and are still being tested before the latest implementations are released for a final version of the browser.
The ability to export logins and passwords to CSV files is already part of Chrome. However, it appears that Firefox should gain the ability to import these files before Google’s browser.
How to export logins and passwords to a CSV file
If you are a Firefox Nightly user, you can now test the feature. To do this, follow the steps below.
- With Firefox open, open “Lockwise” by typing “about: logins” in the address bar or clicking on the menu and selecting “logins and passwords”. 2. Click on the “three dots” icon and then on “Export logins”. 3. After that, a window will appear alerting the user to the fact that the information will be saved in a file that can be read by anyone. To proceed, click on “Export”. 4. The CSV file will be saved in a location chosen by you, on your computer. CSV files are usually opened with Microsoft Office applications. If the user does not have the suite installed on the PC, they can access the online version using their Microsoft account.
Just to remember: Firefox already has a feature that allows you to both save and recover logins and passwords online. For this, the user needs to create an account on Mozilla that will be used to store the information. The feature is built into the browser itself.
