The US Institute for Geological Research (USGS) reported that the earthquake, whose epicenter is south of Cuba and 117 kilometers northwest of Jamaica, occurred 10 kilometers below the sea floor. It is not yet known whether the earthquake caused death or material damage in neighboring countries.
